Usikimye runs The Haven, a transitional safehouse for survivors of Sexual and Gender based Violence. The Haven provides safe and secure accommodation for women and children escaping from GBV. At the Haven, all adults receive weekly therapy sessions with an accredited counsellor. Every resident gets an opportunity to Every resident has the opportunity to participate in assessments which create a foundation for goal planning and services, including next-step housing, employment financial assistance, financial planning and literacy and business skills. The children who live at the Safehouse also receive their own specialized services that support both them and their parents wellness checkups, emotional health, developmental assessments, tutoring assistance and access to recreational activities. Once a week the Safehouse residents are encouraged to engage in weekly in-house support groups that focus on the healing process and recovery from unhealthy relationships. One of the group activities include Yoga, Pilate's, Breathing techniques and meditative walks in Karura Forest.
